From its inception the IAI has taken a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to its research and capacity building programs to fulfill the institute's mandate to serve as an effective interface between science and the policy process as provided in the 1992 Montevideo Declaration that established the IAI. This issue of the Inter American Institute Newsletter highlights the theme of ‘interdisciplinarity’ across the IAI's activities and also provides views from other institution.
