Bonn hosts the headquarters of sustainability. A multitude of organizations in Bonn are working on the subject of sustainable development for our planet. Nine of these institutions, specialized in the fields of development cooperation, training, research and teaching, conference organization and logistics, have launched the Bonn Sustainability Portal, an online thematic portal.

The Bonn Sustainability Portal offers interested users a platform where they can find and exchange the most recent research reports, opinion papers, event dates and job offers in relation with the theme of sustainable development, updated on a daily basis. At the core of the website is a calendar which announces events focusing on sustainability and international development taking place in Bonn and the Bonn area. The "Best Practice" rubric presents some practical examples for sustainability. Another rubric addresses the sustainability initiatives of the Federal City of Bonn.

Moreover, the portal is a dialog platform. The "Opinion" rubric publishes position and opinion papers regarding current issues, which can be commented online by the readers. Those Bonn organizations making a contribution to the field of sustainability can enter their information on the portal.

The information on the portal, which is currently financed by the partners’ own resources, is available in English and German. Subscription is free.

The editing of the portal contents will be overseen by the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI), assisted by a team of four editors. The initiative is open to other potential partners.
