Hebe Vessuri is a Senior Researcher and Head of the Department of Science Studies at the Instituto Venzolano de Investigaciones Científicas (Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research) in Caracas, Venezuela. She is a pioneer sociologist of science in Latin America, and her special fields of interest are environmental anthropology and knowledge systems. Currently, Hebe Vessuri is Vice President of the Global Scientific Committee of the UNESCO Forum on Higher Education, Research and Knowledge, as well as Chair of its Latin American Committee. She is also a member of the Experts Committee of the ALFA II Program at the European Union, Brussels, Belgium.
