Appointed by the joint scientific sponsors of IHDP, ICSU and ISSC, the Scientific Committee (SC) governs and guides the scientific and programmatic agenda of IHDP. The SC is comprised of excellent scientisits from different geographic and disciplinary backgrounds. The IHDP-SC meets annually. Between SC Meetings, the IHDP Executive Committee (EC) takes care of important matters. Since April 2006, it is chaired by Professor Oran Young (University of California at Santa Barbara, USA). Previous chairs of the IHDP-SC included Professor Eckart Ehlers (University of Bonn, Germany) Professor Arild Underdal (University of Oslo, Norway) and Professor Coleen Vogel (Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa).
