And global change scientists need to understand society's needs, before the outset of focused research initiatives. Strengthening the interaction between these two communities ensures the research findings fulfill society's needs, and that they can be used to improve the well-being of society. IHDP's convening power adds value to the interaction between science and policy. Our global network, combined with our access to intergovernmental processes, positions us as a dialogue facilitator and matchmaker among science and policy.
