IHDP's Chair Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta will be delivering a keynote lecture on ‘Transition to Sustainability: Inclusive wealth as a measure of progress', as part of of the 'Lecture Series of National Development in China'. The address, taking place at Peking University on 17 October 2011, will focus on measuring wealth beyond Gross Domestic Product. Professor Sir Partha Sarathi Dasgupta is Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, UK. His research interests have covered welfare and development economics; the economics of technological change; population and environment. Professor Dasgupta was named Knight Bachelor by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 in her Birthday Honours List for services to economics; was co-recipient (with Karl Goran Maler) of the 2002 Volvo Environment Prize; and was recipient of the John Kenneth Galbraith Award, 2007, of the American Agricultural Economics Association. In 2007, together with Eric Maskin he was awarded the Eric Kempe Award in Environmental and Resource Economics, a joint prize of the Kempe Foundation and the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
