Integrated Risk Governance Project
New IHDP Core Project on Risk Governance

The Integrated Risk Governance Project (IRG-Project), one of IHDP’s latest core projects, has been launched! The first meeting of the IRG-Project's Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) in China in May 2011 aimed at clarifying activities for the upcoming year, finalizing details regarding SSC memberships and discussing the science of disaster risk management. New online discussion forum

The Earth System Governance Project has started a new major initiative related to the upcoming “Rio+20” UN Conference on Sustainable Development. The Project has set up a new online discussion forum on 'international environmental governance' open for comments and viewpoints. READ MORE...

Norms of Global Governance Initiative (NGGI) started

The NGGI is a new research activity within the existing framework of the Earth System Governance Project. The Initiative involves research on the norms of environmental governance, employing dispute scenarios in the form of hypothetical legal cases that call upon citizen juries to decide among the competing demands of parties. The IHDP Secretariat (UNU-IHDP) is pleased to announce its first scientific writing contest for a new magazine to be launched in late fall 2011.

The contest is open to young scholars from all over the world (graduate students, PhD students or postdocs). Scholars from developing countries are particularly encouraged to take part. The Secretariat will select five winners to be awarded a cash prize - and will publish their work in its magazine’s first issue. READ MORE...
