Final Report of the Future Earth Transition Team Published

The initial design phase of Future Earth is now coming to a close as the Transition Team, tasked with defining frameworks for Future Earth research and governance, put finishing touches on the final report. The report builds on  a broad range of consultations with the global environmental change research community, from the Visioning process to consultations on the research agenda with the GEC programmes and projects and regional workshops in Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Indian government releases 1st draft of report on Green National Accounts

Following in-depth deliberations over the past one and half years, an expert group at the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in India recently released the first draft of its report “Green National Accounts in India”. The group, chaired by IHDP Scientific Committee Chair Sir Partha Dasgupta, had been given the mandate by the government of India to develop a framework for green national accounts, identify data gaps and prepare a road map to implement the framework.

“German National Committee Future Earth” established

The German National Committee on Global Change Research (NKGCF), an interdisciplinary committee linked to all global change programmes and launched by German Research Funding Agencies, has ended its activities and initiated the “German Committee Future Earth” (D-FutureEarth). The “German Committee Future Earth” will now serve as the successor committee to NKGCF and will act as a research advisory board and national partner on questions regarding international developments and activities within the framework of Future Earth.
